Our People Are Everything

We come from all walks, personally and professionally. We work together and across businesses, solve problems, ask big questions, share stories, eat, laugh, debate, challenge and encourage our community toward a new, more conscious, empathetic and progressive economy.

Danny Almagor

Danny is the founder and CEO of Small Giants, which he started with Berry, who also happens to be the mother of his three children, and the creative director of Small Giants. Prior to Small Giants, Danny was the founding CEO of Engineers Without Borders and the CEO of Medivax. He has done some other cool stuff including being part of the team that broke the record for racing a solar car across Australia from Darwin to Adelaide. He loves reading nonfiction and jumping on the trampoline with his kids.

Berry Liberman

Berry is the co-founder and Creative Director of Small Giants, the Publisher of Dumbo Feather and a mum to the three cutest kids in the world. Berry loves the garden at work. Especially the roses. A few years back, Berry used to write screenplays in LA and directed a few short films but decided to come home, get married to Danny (CEO extraordinaire of Small Giants) and start Small Giants. Very good decision.

Mele-Ane Havea

Mele-Ane is a core part of the Small Giants leadership team.  She has a varied background, from corporate law to community and human rights law, with an Oxford MBA thrown in for good measure. At business school and the Skoll Centre for Social entrepreneurship, Mele-Ane became enamoured by the idea of social and responsible business, and the power of story-telling.

Kaj Löfgren

Kaj (pronounced Kai) works with the Small Giants team to produce new and innovative projects that positively impact the world. With a passion for philosophy and learning, he manages our work in empathy, education, and life-long learning. A Humanitarian (Civil) Engineer by training, he previously worked at Engineers Without Borders Australia. He has a number of side-projects and lives in Melbourne's inner-west with his wife and son.

Caroline Vu

Caroline is the Impact Ninja of the Small Giants strategy team, and Chief Impact Officer at Impact Investment Group. Caroline has over a decade working in the commercial, government and non-profit worlds. Caroline founded the New Generation of Giving program, an Australian-first which develops emerging leaders in impact investment and philanthropy. In a former life, Caroline was a commercial lawyer, and now spends her days experimenting with adaptive leadership, and taking people on a journey to impact.  Her real-life dream is to be the first Vietnamese pro-surfer in the world.

Dan Fitzgerald

After a career as an investor in the Old Economy, Dan embarked on a personal journey with his wife Leanne to seek out a way to sustain their existence by contributing their energy and skills in service of a higher purpose. That journey led him to the Small Giants family where he now leads our investment team. Dan has a driving passion for the regenerative economy. Dan and his family live in Lennox Head where they love riding waves together, snorkelling, hiking and sharing home-cooked meals with their community.

Lillian Kline

Lillian is part of the Small Giants strategy team. Passionate about education and social justice, Lillian worked previously as a corporate lawyer, speechwriter to a federal politician and as Development Director at Stand Up, a Jewish social justice organisation. She has consulted widely in the not-for-profit sector.  Lillian was the first Director of the Pathways to Politics Program for Women at Melbourne University. She has a Masters of Law in Human Rights. Lillian loves crossfit, coffee, travel, reading and her four children, not necessarily in that order.

Connie Musolino

Connie assists the Small Giants leadership team and looks after the beautiful White House. After working in many different roles over the years in different industries, Connie wanted to find a place that aligned with her personal values. When she's not running around and keeping everyone in the office in check, she loves running, travelling and food (it's in her Italian blood).

Dave Martin

Dave is responsible for the development and construction wing of Small Giants. Dave’s skills and experience come with accolades and awards such as the Master Builder of the year. He has also had appearances on Grand Designs Australia. Dave has had 15 years’ experience in the construction industry and is the director, co-director and co-founder of multiple companies such as Martin Builders, Archiblox, Birdie Workshop, JM Cladding and The Cape Patterson Eco-Village. Dave’s passion is building and connecting environment, nature, community and people.

Madeline Lucas

When Madeline started working here in 2013, she worked between Dumbo Feather and Small Giants. After a few months she went all the way over to Dumbo Feather to head up their events and community engagement and has come full circle to again be working between the two, looking after special projects and events. Madeline is currently completing her MBA at Melbourne Business School and has been pleasantly surprised to find that her arts/media brain enjoys data analysis and decision trees! She enjoys reading (anything, everything), travelling (anywhere), eating, running, watersports and a good red wine shared with friends.

Francie Doolan

Francie leads the finance teams across the portfolio of businesses. Francie has a unique combination of senior finance business and psychology experience. Starting her career at PwC, Francie has nearly 20 years assurance and consulting experience. Before joining Small Giants, Francie was the Chief Financial Officer at the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra which cemented her belief that arts and culture are important to the wellbeing of our society. Francie is also a non- executive director of Impact Funds Management (part of Impact Investment Group, a leading Australian impact investment funds manager and co-investor).  Francie is an advocate for gender equality, volunteering as an external member of the Finance and Risk Committee for Ourwatch. Francie has a big family, loves playing Lego and doing craft (you can never have enough glitter!).
