Born in Oberon, New South Wales, Bob Brown's journey began with his medical studies at Sydney University, leading him to practice medicine in various cities like Canberra, Darwin, Alice Springs, and even London. However, it was his move to Tasmania in 1972 that ignited his passion for the mesmerizing Tasmanian wilderness.

In 1976, a life-changing rafting trip down the iconic Franklin River transformed Bob Brown into a founding member of the Wilderness Society. He relentlessly led the campaign against proposed dam works on the Franklin River until 1983, even facing arrests and imprisonment. This unwavering dedication culminated in the preservation of the river with a World Heritage Listing.

Bob Brown's remarkable journey continued as he entered the Tasmanian House of Assembly as the Member for Denison, serving for a decade. His impact grew exponentially when he was elected to the Federal Senate, co-founding the Australian Greens alongside West Australian Greens Senator Dee Margetts.
