Small Giants Academy is excited to host 'Conversations with Extraordinary People'
Together, we will explore the question “How might we reimagine our world to create the conditions for shared thriving for all of humanity and all living things?”
In this conversation, Small Giants Academy co-founder Berry Liberman will be chatting with Swedish ecologist, activist and systems thinker, Pella Thiel.
Guided by the lens of ecological jurisprudence - a field that reimagines legal systems as embedded within, and accountable to, living ecological systems - Pella draws parallels between this emerging legal paradigm and the revolutionary leap from Newtonian to quantum physics. Referencing the work of Alessandro Pelizzon, she suggests that ecological jurisprudence offers a transformative worldview shift that we’ve yet to fully culturally absorb.
Berry will also speak with Pella about her work with the international movement to criminalise ecocide, highlighting the potential for small island states to lead the global effort and the critical opportunity for Australia to engage. What unfolds is an intimate, intellectually rigorous, and deeply hopeful discussion about reimagining institutions—not as rigid fortresses of the past, but as living systems capable of evolving with integrity, purpose, and renewed trust in service of both people and the planet.
